Resiliency Program

Our Mission
To engage families in awakening inherent inner strengths that are designed to instill personal power, stimulate resiliency, enhance spiritual awareness, and inspire hope and purpose.  Not only has this program been effective with all age groups, but also it has fostered breakthroughs in children with special needs, and their parents.

The SPRK Program is sponsored by The Institute for Spirituality and Healing in Medicine (SHIM), a 501(c)(3).

Children's Resiliency
The children's program requires a mentor/teacher who facilitates and expedites resilient behavior. The mentor’s role is to connect
children and young adolescents with their inherent abilities, heighten their awareness, and encourage them to access those inherent abilities.
  • Eight lessons (can be modified)

Teen Resiliency
The teen program utilizes concepts and materials from both the adult program and the children’s program.
The teen program focuses on:

  • Enhancement of the quality of life
  • Fulfilling their potential as human beings
  • Accelerating positive learning will accelerate positive behavior
  • Learning is a change of behavior
  • Adopting socially productive behavior
  • Setting a course for the future
  • Chaos makes way for a rising star

Adult Resiliency
    The adult program is a support class that focuses on personal and family resiliency. This eight session class includes a handout/workbook for each class and a personalized gratitude journal. The lessons are evidence based from resiliency research.
The Parents are supported in:
  • Developing behaviors of increasing returns A vision for the future—focusing on what is ahead, not what is behind

Children's Resiliency Program

The program for children, ages 6-14, is called Strategic Personal Resiliency for Kids (SPRK). 
The purpose of the SPRK program is:

  • To cultivate children’s belief in their ability to effectively cope with the present and be prepared to strategically direct the course of their lives
  • To provide a way for children to take action in their own behalf by teaching them that they possess an innate genius of spiritual, physical and psychological energy that creates hope and well-being
  • To encourage autonomy, hope, purpose, courage, and the desire to direct one’s own destiny
  • To teach that empowerment is opportunity and that resiliency is possible
  • To promote the power of positive expectation
